HEADSHOT FAQ's


Everyone has questions about their session and this is the place to get your answers. We try to anticipate any issues that might come up but we might have missed something. WHERE DOES THE SHOOT TAKE PLACE?

The majority of our sessions take place in our studio located near Albany in New York. If your needs require something specific, we are available to go on location for a small fee.




WHAT DO WE WEAR?

We recommend keeping clothing simple with no logos, busy patterns or bright colors. Think about textures, layers and accessories.



Always bring clothes that match your style and personality.



Avoid bringing only black clothes or only white clothes (yes it happens), not only can they lose detail in photos, but it can limit the variety of images in your portfolio. Concentrate on bringing solid colors that complement your natural color so that your face, not your shirt, will stand out in the images.


Make sure any clothes that you bring are clean and neatly pressed. This goes double for collared shirts and suits. The camera picks up a lot more detail than you think. Standard retouching does not include fixing the wrinkles in your clothes.



Be rested and drink plenty of water the day before your shoot, it is amazing for your skin.


Don’t concentrate on jewelry or accessories too much. Keep your choices to classic pieces so that match a variety of outfits. For commercial acting headshots, jewelry isn’t necessary.




HOW MUCH RETOUCHING DO YOU DO?

Each image you order is given the highest level of attention to reduce and remove wrinkles and blemishes as well as stray hairs and dark circles. The key is to enhance the image without making you look fake.




HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET MY IMAGES?

Once you've booked your photo shoot you can expect to receive your photos within 2 weeks from date of photo session.




WHAT ABOUT PAYMENTS AND CONTRACTS?

All clients are asked to sign a model release & contract. A deposit is required to reserve your date and balances are due at the photo shoot. We accept cash, checks and credit cards. No files will be received until final payment is made.


WHAT IF I NEED TO RESCHEDULE?

If you need to reschedule, contact me 24 hours in advance and I will be happy to reschedule your session. Same goes for me. If you have chosen an outdoor session and there is bad weather, you can choose to have your shoot at our studio location or reschedule.
